Official presentation of the Abutres Trail World Championships
The 2019 Trail Running World Championships were officially presented today at the Convento de S. Francisco in Coimbra.
It has been confirmed that between the 6th and 9th of June 2019, central Portugal will be the centre of the world for trail running. The best national and international mountain runners will test the limits of their endurance in the most iconic event in the sport: the 2019 Trail World Championships. The sporting event will include the Trilho dos Abutres in Miranda do Corvo, a benchmark event in Portugal.
This project was one of the biggest challenges for Tiago Araújo, President of the Abútrica Association and the LOC (Local organisation Committee), which, against all odds, ended up winning.
In addition to the support of the Municipal Councils of Coimbra and Miranda do Corvo, the dedication to this project by Turismo Centro de Portugal, ADXTUR – Aldeias de Xisto, ITRA (International Trail Running Association) and the Portuguese Athletics Federation was essential to the success of this application. The event is also sponsored by Berg Outdoor, a Portuguese company belonging to the Sonae Group.
